1/13/08 - The Devil and Miss Prym - Paulo Coelho - I know this is actually taking care of part of number five as well but I honestly see myself reading far more than three unfinished books on my shelf.

1/08 - A Box of Matches - Nicholson Baker

3/30/08 - The Tattoed Girl - Joyce Carol Oates - I think Oates is highly overrated but I still pick up her books at thrift stores for some reason. This was probably my favorite of her overrated books. Very quick, enjoyable read with an unexpected ending.

12/16/08 - The Art of Mending - Elizabeth Berg

1/13/08 - The Devil and Miss Prym - Paulo Coelho

3/25/08 - Perfume - Patrick Süskind - I disliked the same thing about this book that I did about the movie: the ending. Other than that it was wonderfully written and almost funny. I'm definitely going to check to see if he has written anything else.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies 11/29/07

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies 4/7/08 - I used Nestle Chocolate Chunks for these - next time I'll use smaller chips (maybe even mini ones) and more than 3/4 cup...at least a cup because I really like a bit of chocolate in each peanut buttery bite. These are also the first cookie that I used natural peanut butter in and I think I can actually tell the difference. I can certainly tell a difference in my daily PB& J sandwiches! 

Alton Brown's The Puffy 12/24/08 - loved these and will definitely make them again. I've been trying several kinds of chips and I think Hershey's are the way to go - even the seemingly "better" Ghiradelli chips just don't stack up to plain old Hershey's chocolate chips.

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies 12/24/08 - I liked these but they were not a hit at the family Christmas parties this year.  They're not terribly sweet and I think they resemble a gingerbread cookie a little too much which turns people off.  If people had known they were chocolate I might not have brought so many back home with me.

47. Make one thing out of seven of my cookbooks (1/7) Grandma's Potato Salad from the Pillsbury Complete Cookbook. This is a great potato salad recipe. I made it last week with my Dad's wonderful baked bean recipe and Morningstar Chik Patties for a very simple but well received dinner. 4/9/08

49. Bake three kinds of bread (1/3) Apple Breakfast Bread - 2/25/08 - good but a bit dry and heavy. I'm not sure I'll use this recipe again. I do like that it uses lots of apples, though.
50. Make macaroni and cheese from scratch

53. Cook six REAL meals for just me – main dish and two sides.

54. Buy one piece of art for the living room - I'm so in love with this picture that I bought at the Salvation Army that I'm counting it. And it will indeed hang in my living room. Some day.
