I decided to give my granny the potted cyclamen for her birthday tomorrow rather than to my parents as a thank you gift (but I am bringing cake and wine!) but it needed a little something. Last night I knitted up this little guy from a pattern - Korknisse - I found on Ravelry (oh how I love that place - Delly, I can't wait for you to get your invite). I decided he was a garden gnome rather than an elf and added a flower rather than a tuft of yarn or a bell.
This was a super easy project that I finished in under an hour. I'm going to make another one soon for another photo shoot at the grocery store a la The Googly Eye Adventure. And I'm sure a few more will be made before Christmas to tie on packages as they're just too cute!
Jake and I met at the Town & Country shopping center for a Trader Joe's run after work (by the way, their banana waffles are d-licious). It was supposed to be just a Trader Joe's run...I had a lot to do at home. Well, we ended up having dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings, playing a little Photo Hunt and then walking down the Books & Co. (walking past Trader Joe's).
I should be getting the first half of my referral bonus tomorrow (fingers crossed 'cause I'm kind of banking on it - no pun intended) so I felt pretty okay about buying another crochet book while waiting for the Elizabeth Doherty amigurumi book to come in. I've looked at Mr. Funky's Super Crochet Wonderful several times but I must have never opened it to page forty-eight to find the "On-The-Go Water Bottle Carrier" pattern (it's a bear with googly eyes!) because if I had I would have already purchased it. Between the bottle carrier and "Sebastian le Hamster" - I was sold.
I found a couple of freebies from the book: a pattern for the boy and girl elephants can be found here and the bunny in a dress pattern is here. But the book isn't just amigurumi! There are scarves and hats and purses, too. I think a hat might be the perfect pattern to work on while on vacation at the beginning of October.
Okay, it's now past eight-thirty. I've got to get some work done...although I'd really just like to sit down and start on the water bottle carrier. Sigh.
