When I got home tonight I realized a shiny glimmer of light in an otherwise fairly shitty day had appeared on my doorstep in the form of the Jayne Hat kit I ordered from Wear With Style. The Jayne hat is a tribute to the hat work by the character Jayne on the brilliant yet canceled television series, Firefly.
First of all, how cool is this packaging? The envelope is stamped with various Firefly themed ports of call:
And the ships insignia:
And inside we find instructions (complete with the note that Jayne's mother sent with the hat in the original episode) already sleeved, stitch markers (can never have too many of those) and a sticker. How how cute are her business cards? You might notice that Heather and I share the same last name - and irony doesn't end there...her daughter's name is Emily!
And, of course, the yarn...and a pre-made pom pom!
All of this for seventeen dollars!
My original idea was to make this for Jake's birthday in November but...I think I might just keep it for myself. I mean, he's told me he doesn't wear hats after all....
Awesome kit! Thanks for sharing. I don't knit but I am a Firefly fan. Found your blog on the "recent updates" loop on Typepad. Have a great week!
