It's, inadvertently, Post a Lot Day.
So, my thought is to make a shawl with the alpaca yarn Matt sent. I have absolutely no idea what the yardage is but I'm pretty sure I could make a really nice onw with three skeins at 100 grams, regardless of yardage.
I've narrowed it down to two (that I think I could pull off) but would love any suggestions -
The Shoalwater Shawl by Fiber Trends
I like this but when I look at the projects on Ravelry I'm not fond of the size...I'm not sure I could pull this off.
So maybe I'm really think of something more like a wrap. I really like the Morning Surf Scarf from HeartStrings FiberArts and thought it might look nice if I were to add more width to make it more wrap-like (plus it's pretty simple pattern).
What do you guys think?
Endnote: I get to talk to Matt in a little over three hours - yaay! :-)
I personally loooooove the morning surf scar and it's super easy to modify to any size you want. You can make it dressy by wearing it as a wrap, and dress it down by folding it in half lengthwise into scarf-width and wearing it with jeans. Super versatile. That would be my choice!

I vote for the Morning Surf too - the shoalwater is a little too back-of-the-couch-afghan-ish (not that there's anything wrong with that!) and I've always loved that stitch pattern on the morning surf!

I knit a shawl almost exactly like the Shoalwater. It is work, but the results are awesome.

So, I'm going to be a jerk and recommend another one for you (I like throwing wrenches...) http://thriftyknitter.com/?p=219
The woodlands shawl.
But if you can't be swayed in another direction, I think I'd go with the morning surf. It looks like drop stitches and they're fun.
