Somewhere over the last couple of months I seem to have misplaced my ability to blog. Maybe I left it behind at a thrift store while I looked for beer, wine and champagne glasses for the reception or at Michael's or JoAnn somewhere in the ribbon or flower aisle. Or maybe it just got filed under the wrong category in my bridal organizer. You know, under Guest List rather than How to Have a Life and Plan a Wedding at the Same Time.
It's really not that bad, though - I've been incredibly lucky as it's all really falling into place - but it is mentally and physically time consuming. My apartment seems to stay in a constant state of cluttered and I haven't finished a knitting project in weeks. Let's not even start on the idea of packing up/selling my belongings. I think the majority of that will happen after we get married - although I'd like to have some of the organizing done before Matt gets here. I (hopefully) won't be working and we'll have at least a couple of weeks as we wait for the spouse visa to go through.
My idea of keeping a written journal for each of the 101 days up until the wedding, sadly, lasted about a week and a half. I do want to take a few moments to write a few things down eventually, though, and in a couple of weeks it'll be time to start thinking about the vows. I'd also like to take some time to think about what I'll be doing once I get over there. The side of my brain that pushes practical thoughts away wants to make the rooms on the other side of that window beautiful and cozy. It also wants to knit Real Projects and explore the kitchen like I haven't before. The practical side of my brain that does need to think about an income still wants it to be creative - maybe using my newly organized craft room by selling on Etsy rather than always buying or my growing (thanks to Matt) stack of writing books. I want to write again for sure - even if it's just to blog more often and with more substance. I'm hoping that, with this new life in a new country, blog topics won't be far out of reach.
It's a lot to think about.
I don't expect to blog much until June or maybe even July. Hopefully, though, I'll have some exciting photos from the trip home (as in my future home) and our adventure in Rome (what I'm calling our pre-honeymoon) here in a few weeks. I already know there are a few pre-wedding details (like the birdseed toss packets - they turned out so cute) that I want to photograph and post eventually. And I'm sure there will be wedding photos. I haven't mentioned it here yet but Punch Pink (and I like this one, too) is going to be our photographer. I'm super excited about that (and, thankfully, so is she). I think there's something really comforting about actually working with someone you know and like.
Blurg, see what happens when you don't post anything of note for a month of Sundays? :)
Yes --- we all get a lot of cool news!
